Life's Ultimate Goal

This is a lesson that the Lord gave me in 2006.  I felt to offer it here.  I pray it will bless you as you carefully consider what it says.

The purpose of a man's life is to pursue and to find the Almighty—all other endeavors are cursory and futile without the primary goal of God-pursuit.  Faith is the inner link to this unseen goal, ever propelling the seeker because of the assurance of finding.  We will soon become discouraged and quit any quest that proves to be an "impossible dream."  Faith is the assurance of, not only the possibility that what God has said is true (e.g. "Seek and you shall find"), but is also the conviction that God wants to be accessible to His children and that His purposes are incontrovertible.

The "something more" to man is found only in the habitation of his Creator.  Finding God provides the key to true "self" fulfillment.  Only your Heavenly Father can tell you who you are.  Only He can lead you to still waters of peace and rest of soul.  Only a connection with Him can bring the empowerment of supernatural endowments that are meant to be the tools of authority and rule in the hands of the one who has found who God is (and the resulting knowledge of who the self is).

Within all God's children there is a "secret room' intended for habitation only by the Almighty.  It is meant to be the seat of power from which God takes rule over one's life.  The challenge is that this secret room is found hidden deep beyond the flesh senses and often becomes tertiary to the pursuit of pleasure and power.  The relationship with God, found only in the secret room is not thrilling—it is fulfilling.  So we often choose sensation over substance.

The Truth that sets you free must be dug out from underneath all you think you know.  Since before you can remember you have been gathering information about life, the world, others, yourself, and even about God.  This information then directs how you live, think, and move, so that a self-fulfilling prophecy is produced concerning perceived "truth."  Eventually, how you believe, and the accompanying (confirming) experiences, take on an emotional dimension so that you now feel a certain way about what you believe.  This system of thought and the resulting emotions now forms a frame of reference out of which most people live their whole lives.  The problem is that this personal frame of reference often has little to do with actual Truth and may serve to prevent the knowledge of God's Truth from ever being found.  So we bump into the Truth, trip over it, and often look beyond it, never discerning that all that is needed is already within you in that much neglected secret room that holds God's presence.

Many things in the physical plane offer realization of potential and purpose.  However, these pseudo sources are only distractions—empty promises and fraud.  God desires to bring you into the realization of your entire destiny in Him.  If it seems that He is hard to "find," consider this.  God cannot be found within the context of your carnal (fleshly and untransformed) frame of reference.  He will not be found on your terms, wrapped in the package that you envision.  To truly have the kind of relationship with God that brings soul-fulfillment you must be willing to have your "world" turned upside down.  All of your preconceived notions and predispositions must be abandoned to His Truth.  The treasure given at the hand of the Father will only be dispensed into hands emptied of all other things.  You must be willing to leave all of your agenda in a heap behind you and determine to press into His image.

A revolution of revelation waits on your obedience to the call for relinquishment.  What does this mean?  Go to God and offer yourself to Him without reservation and preconditions.  Refuse to be denied access into His presence at the hands of intervening foes (sometimes the biggest hindrances come from your old way of being).  You cannot go to a drive-thru and order God-in-a-box.  His presence and the accompanying peace and fulfillment, come at a price.  All God wants is everything you are and everything you have and everything you hold dear.  In exchange, He will give you access to everything He is, and everything He has, and all that He holds dear (Christ).  God does not negotiate terms for the dispensing of His blessing.  He will only respond to total submission of the total self to His total will--that is what is meant by "the mind of Christ."

Phil 3:8-14

8 Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One),

9 And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law's demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith.

10[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11 That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

12 Not that I have now attained [this ideal], or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ Jesus (the Messiah) has laid hold of me and made me His own.

13 I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,

14 I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
