The Plumb Line

This is a prophetic lesson the Lord gave me on 1-20-2009.  It was the first of a series of lessons for 2009.  I strongly encourage you to listen to the sermon containing this lesson along with reading the written version.  The link for the audio version is directly below.

The Plumb Line

Scriptural Preparation

Amos 7:7-8

Thus He showed me: Behold, the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand.  And the LORD said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said: "Behold, I am setting a plumb line in the midst of My people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.

Acts 24:16

This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.

2 Corinthians 4:10

[We are] always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

The Plumb Line: A Prophetic Lesson

The plumb line references all that the I Am is—all that I have revealed1 to you. You cannot approach Me as if I AM just another idea to be considered2. Ignorance3 of who I Am has led to presumption4, at best, and total rebellion5, at worst.  In a few days you will see many opportunities for evil compromise6.  "The ends justify the means," as an argument illustrates the carnal mind's numbness7 to the things of the Spirit.  Following those who speak platitudes8 leads to diversion from the will of the Father.  My voice in you will become stronger as you refuse to submit to futile philosophizing9 and rather submit to what I Have said to you.  Eternity holds understanding, vindication, and relief from struggles—the now of your existence holds potential for glory10.  My glory is seen best when contrasted against human limitations11.  A new move will soon be released that will answer the strong pull of "commonality" and "civility," these pleasant words that hold—rather than relief—a drawing away of many to another sovereign—the human collective12.  This produces a fatal flaw, for within your very being, is the means of your decline—the Sin nature.  You cannot overcome evil with a better evil—you overcome evil with good13.  There is only one good (pure) and I Am He.  Human compassion (self-motivated) says deliver them from hurt; I say, deliver them from evil.  Human integrity says I will do no harm to another; I say you are harm because you say you offer an answer you do not have.  Human wealth says that things have power; I say that wealth is the fulfilling of My will.  You are naked, blind, and poor14, yet you still try to find a solution within the nature of man.  That will always disappoint.  I am not trying to restrain you—I am trying to show you the way to true freedom.  Human freedom says I can do as I wish, I say that the path to true freedom is completely coming under the yoke of My will15.  It is the only way that you can transcend the bondage of yourself.  Left alone you will self-destruct while thinking you are remedying your condition.  The cure is tainted with the poison16—the same poison for which you seek an antidote.  Your carnal nature fears relinquishment to My will because it thinks it knows the way—but with every self-motivated17 action you become more bound to who you have become and more remote from the created order18.  Sorrow and disappointment lead you to the very thing that has caused you sorrow and disappointment.  Spiritual freedom has an inverse relationship with so-called human freedom of expression19.  You are building your own gallows.  Because the mind controlled by the Spirit will not bow at the altar of the flesh, flesh becomes an enemy combatant.  The childish (flesh) mind sees all correction or so-called limitation as punishment.  The mature (Spirit) mind sees the benefit and salvation in the Word that saves you from utter destruction.  Even in your obedience you have resented letting go of what you wanted.  You still do not see Me.  If you did, you would run into the fire at My command knowing that I Am a fire that consumes fire.  At My word you would soar above the lowest valley knowing that I Am not limited by human ability.  At my word you would risk all the pleasantries of human fellowship knowing that I Am is closer than a brother.  Knowing Me leads to all the power you have desired.  Trying to gain power and control is putting you farther and farther back in the dungeon of flesh.  You suffer needlessly because you do not obey and when you do obey you feel no release because you still resent.  I am waiting to restore all to you.  The plumb line will not change.  Will you?

Concluding Scriptures

Zechariah 4:8-10

Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

"The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands shall also finish it.  Then you will know

that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. For who has despised the day of small things?  For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.  They are the eyes of the LORD, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth."

Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Philippians 1:6

[And] being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
