Voice of the Last Days Ministry

In honor of our "Wake Up Call" feature (audio daily devotional)--I thought it would be a good exercise to study some of the scriptures concerning the concept of waking up.  Now, have you ever noticed that sometimes it seems that you (and/or others) seem to be living life by rote (meaningless and mechanical repetition)?  We often find ourselves looking back over the years wondering what we did with all that time.  Well that feeling is bad enough--but just imagine how much power we forfeit; opportunities we squander; and "appointments" we miss when we are spiritually sleeping.  Remember the admonition of Jesus in  Matthew 26:41, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." And then in Luke 21:36 He says, "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

We must awake to righteousness, now!  You can't possibly be "watchful" if you are sleeping.  Time is short and we have work to do!  This is your wake up call!

Examine these scriptures and then find some of your own that have to do with waking up or being awake!

Isaiah 60:1

Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.

Isaiah 32:9-10

Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech. In a year and some days you will be troubled, you complacent women; for the vintage will fail, the gathering will not come.

Isaiah 50:4

"The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.  He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.

Joel 3:9

Proclaim this among the nations:  "Prepare for war!  Wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near, let them come up.

Psalms 57:8
Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn.

Romans 13:11

Put on Christ and do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

1 Corinthians 15:34

Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

Ephesians 5:14

Therefore He says:  "Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light."
